We headed south the last week of February for a wonderful visit with Grandma and Grandpa Baldwin.
The kids did great on the plane, we were lucky enough to have a direct flight to Fort Meyers so it was a fairly quick trip down. Carter loved his window seat and basically counted the seconds until we landed. We arrived to 80 degree weather and it didn't let up our entire trip. Much different than our chillier version last year when we didn't even get our shorts out of our suitcase!
We woke up every day and threw on our bathing suits and enjoyed Grandma and Grandpa's beautiful pool. Carter was a little leery of the pool at first, but before the first day was done he was swimming around by himself with a couple noodles. Neither of the kids liked our daily "swim lessons" where we put our heads under and worked on our swimming, but they both got a little more comfortable as the week went on.
We also had fun at a nearby park. The park was loaded with the coolest play equipment as well as a "splash pad" area, a tiny train we actually took a ride on, a small beach, neat walking paths, and more. We enjoyed the park two different days, we couldn't fit it all into one day!
Mia didn't understand why Grandma and Grandpa weren't getting wet too!
Mia was showing this little boy what a real alligator will do to him. CHOMP!
We also enjoyed watching Grandma play a tennis match (the kids were a great cheering section, except when Mia ran on the court of another match in progress), watching Daddy tee off on the 3rd hole (he got to play a couple rounds with Grandpa as his caddy), taking some beautiful walks around the neighborhood, and just plain relaxing! Dave and I also enjoyed an awesome night out (minus kids) and ate at a great restaurant with a live band and a view of the harbor, outside eating, can't ask for much more than that!
Carter took this shot of Grandma in action (black skirt, up front).
You can see Daddy in the background getting ready to tee off.
Grandma and Carter made this special "Mickey Mouse" pancake breakfast one morning.
We also loved alligator watching...and he didn't disappoint! Here is the "hole 3" alligator right outside Grandma's patio area. You can see his back and snout sticking up out of the water.
Mia apparently wanted to eat her icecream without a photo shoot.
We definitely can't have a Florida trip without reading "The Big Orange Splot."
Carter Pics
Our budding photographer took the following pictures througout the trip. Smile!
I had to add this picture...the crazy puzzle has been around forever and Carter latched onto it for the entire trip. I don't believe anyone to date has solved the Roger Dodger puzzle.
