Star Wars Baseball

What could be more American than watching a Star Wars themed baseball game on 4th of July weekend?  Not much, we thought, so when we were asked to join some friends for box seats at a Whitecaps game, we couldn't pass it up.

Here is Carter posing with some sort of storm trooper.  It was quite chaotic when the trooper just showed up in our box, this was the best picture I snapped.

For whatever reason the game was Star Wars themed.  There were tons of characters walking around, Luke Skywalker even sang the National Anthem.  Who knew he had such a great voice?

We had a lot of fun, the box seats were a great way to watch the game and it gave the kids some room to run around and play during some lulls in the action.

Mia and her friend, Ava.

I think the kids had every dessert item on the menu.  Here is Mia trying some sort of dot ice cream.

Sugar highs!

Even though the home team lost, we had a fantastic time!  Thanks to Mike and Meredith for the great seats!

Feeling hot, Hot, HOT!

This 4th of July was incredibly hot and steamy.  That didn't stop us from having tons of fun though!

We started the 4th per our normal routine - parade in the morning followed by the lake party at Meredith's parents house.  The kids both rode/drove in the kids portion of the parade this year while Dave walked the route with them.

Carter rode his bike (you can see him in front of that lady with the blue shirt).  It has a killer hill at the end, but he did a great job!

Dave stayed with Mia (if you look close in the picture above you can see Mia driving the jeep way back there).  She took her jeep driving very seriously...either that or she was about to run someone over.

Once the kid portion was complete, we baked in the sun while watching the rest of the parade.  Mia got creative while trying to create some shade.

We headed to the lake in the afternoon where we played in the water, bounced on the trampoline, dug in the sand box, fished, boated, and ate tons of great food.

Mia checking out some snails in a bucket.

No fear of jumping in by herself!

Kayaking with Juliet.

Carter's favorite part was fishing off the dock.  My favorite part was when he came running down the dock to show me his prized catch.  He could not have been more proud of himself.  Good job Carter!  (He even got it off the line by himself).

His face says it all.  (Yes, the fish is in his hands, take a closer look).  Don't worry, we let the little guy go back in the water.

We headed home before dark so we didn't see any big fireworks this year.  We had our own little fireworks show at home though, which the kids absolutely loved.  Happy 4th to everyone!

Blue Sky Sailing

So far, this summer has given us an abundance of gorgeous blue skies (HOT, but gorgeous).  When we're not busy with the deck project, we try to fit in some fun activities like boating with Grandpa and Grandma Jernstadt.

We love heading to the boat to spend a lazy, fun afternoon!

The kids love helping Grandpa get the boat ready by hoisting the flags.

Grandpa is always adventurous to let them steer the boat.

We also love the little near by beach.

Take a look at the huge barge that came through (that tiny boat to the right of it is the Lake Express).

We also love just hanging out in the marina - they dock near a cute little restaurant that often has live music playing outside.  Sipping a boat drink or two while listening to the music waft over, can't get much better than that!

Thanks for all the boating fun Grandpa and Grandma!
