It's been a while since our last post so I thought I'd catch up in one swoop.
Mia went to her first dentist appointment in May. She was a really good girl during her exam. We also found out that she as two extra teeth up top! This is why her front teeth are pushed out and why one or more other teeth are being pushed sideways. For now we're not doing anything, the dentist plans to monitor them and there is a possibility they would want to pull the extra teeth at some point. The real issue will be whether she has extra big teeth, the baby teeth aren't as concerning.
Carter is almost 6 years old and here are some things he likes right now:
Collecting what he feels are "treasures" (usually rocks and sticks). These same rocks and sticks usually end up in my washing machine, you would think I would learn by now to go through his pockets.
Creating Lego masterpieces - sometimes without directions! (He tends to want to do everything by the directions but we encourage free-form creations whenever we can). Lately everything ends up as some type of "machine."
Writing and spelling. He's learning how to spell words other than his name. He can write "Love Carter and Mia" really well and he also does a few other words like Mom, Dad, and Thank you.
Hammering things into wood. I say "things" only because he'll take nails, screws, and anything else remotely close and try to hammer it into wood. Dave started working on our deck Memorial Day weekend and Carter loves this new project.
Mia is 3 years old and here are some things she likes right now:
Dancing and gymnastics. She loves practicing her cartwheels outside and dancing pretty much anywhere she hears music. We went to the GR Festival a few weekends ago and she LOVED all the outdoor music and girls doing dance routines.
Her baby dolls. She has a whole bin of babies and we have a new system where they sleep in their bin during the day and she picks one or two to sleep with her at night. She seems to rotate them well so as not to leave anyone out.
Doc McStuffins. It's a new show on Disney Jr. and she's obsessed with it. Maybe this means she'll be a Dr. when she grows up?! She can sing almost all of the words to the intro song and she sings it all day long. I'm not sure any of us will have that tune out of our heads anytime soon.
The kids also both love playing outside. Their favorite things lately are riding their bikes around the driveway like a race track and playing in the sprinkler.
Dave also recently whipped up a teeter-totter (literally made this in like 1 hour) and they love playing on it.
Even big kids like it.

I love that Dave "whipped up" a teeter totter in an hour!! Are you kidding me? Very cute pictures. : )
The pictures are great. I love seeing them outside playing. Can't wait to see them in a month.
What great smiles (including Shady), a very happy and busy with summer fun gang. We just love the pictures, and that gymnastics pose of Mia is sure a flash back! Great teeter-totter Dave.
